God Hates Comic Books?

No, I do not know why the Westboro Baptist Church (the church that gives us Fred "God Hates Fags" Phelps) went to protest at a comic book convention in San Diego.

What I know is, the comic book fans were ready for them.

Enjoy the results. Really, have a look. Pictures, video, and the story. The picture above is just the beginning.

Thought of you when I posted it, Kyle.

By the way: Buddhists are violent savages, did you know that? ;-)

Hey A -

I was there guerilla promoting AudioComics and meeting with potential distributors and creators. The Westboro idiots were scared out of their wits and promptly ran across the street so they could "protest" at a safe distance.

Actually, I do know why they were there. Al Gore himself was at a health summit at the Hyatt nearby, and they were sent to the Hyatt to protest by Phelps.

What's ridiculous is that the idiots actually blocked out 1:15 - 2:00 in their schedule for Comic Con.

What's scary is where they were protesting next: the Jewish Holocaust Museum.

Phelps' m.o. is to have his followers show up and protest at events like these, as well as funerals for fallen servicemen. Why? BECAUSE THE LOCAL NEWS STATIONS WILL PICK IT UP AND AIR IT. THAT IS THEIR JOB.

And Phelps is exploiting that reality for his own good. I saw on a CNN piece that he apparently finds bad publicity good. Why? Because it is still publicity, PERIOD. And he is determined to spread his message...at all costs.

It is funny how con-goers reacted. But what these folks also did was strike a blow against a true lunatic. I say well done.
